Why you’re not getting noticed in your business

It’s something I see all the time with women who are already really good at what they do.
They’ve built something really great. They care about their work and they’ve got experience behind them. And yet they’re sat there wondering why am I not getting noticed in my business, because on paper, it should be working better than it is.
It’s a frustrating place to be. So when things feel slower than they should, or opportunities aren’t quite landing, it’s easy to assume you need to do more. More content, more visibility, just more effort.
In a lot of these cases, you’re not simply being overlooked.
You’re being quietly overlooked.
And that’s much harder to spot, because nothing looks obviously wrong. People are finding you. They’re clicking through. They’re having a look around. But somewhere between landing on your website or Instagram and making a decision, something isn’t connecting strongly enough for them to choose you.
When someone starts asking why am I not getting noticed in my business, they tend to look at their strategy first. Posting consistency, messaging, offers. All important, but they miss something more obvious and much easier to fix
What people see when they look you up.
I’ve had so many conversations where someone is showing up regularly, doing all the right things, but the visuals they’re using don’t reflect who they are anymore. Their business has moved on, confidence in their work has grown and the level they’re operating at has shifted. They’re not just starting up any more, they have plans, but…
Their photos haven’t caught up.
So there’s a gap. Visually, al their content and website just feels slightly behind. Just not strong enough to back up what they’re saying.
That small disconnect is often enough.
It’s the difference between someone thinking “she seems good” and “she’s exactly who I need.”
And that’s where being quietly overlooked comes in.
It’s the enquiry that never arrives. The opportunity that goes elsewhere. The person who clicks away without you ever knowing they were there. You don’t get feedback on these moments, which is why the question becomes why am I not getting noticed in my business, instead of what’s actually happening.
People can only engage with the version of you they can see.
If that version feels slightly out of date, or doesn’t fully represent where you are now, you’re asking them to fill in the gaps themselves. Most won’t. They’ll move on to someone whose presence feels clearer and more aligned, even if their actual experience isn’t any stronger than yours.
This is also why trying to fix it by doing more, rarely works. You can show up every day, but if what you’re showing doesn’t match the level you’re at, it creates friction. Everything feels harder than it should. You’re putting in the effort without seeing the return you expected.
Being quietly overlooked isn’t about needing to change who you are.
It’s about making sure what people see is an accurate representation of it.
That’s the shift most people miss. Not more visibility. Better representation.
Because when those two things line up, you stop wondering why things aren’t working and start noticing that they are. People don’t just find you, they recognise you. And that’s usually the point where opportunities start to feel a lot less out of reach.
And you know I can help with that – right???
