I'm Maryanne.
Brand photographer, West Yorkshire. Nearly 20 years behind a camera - the last ten entirely focused on brand photography for women who've built something serious and need to look like it.
When you’re standing in front of my camera, I’m already looking for the double chin, the awkward arm, the weird face you pull mid-laugh – because I’d be looking for exactly those things in a photo of myself. I’m not guessing what you’re worried about. I already know.
That’s not something I learned from a course. It’s just what happens when you’ve spent years feeling like the least photogenic person in any given room – and then become a brand photographer anyway.
Which means when a client tells me she hates having her photo taken, I don’t say “you’ll be fine!” and hope for the best. I sort it. Before she ever walks through the door.
The women I work with have already built something they're genuinely proud of.
They know their work, they’re good at it, and they’re ready to be taken seriously at the level they’re actually operating at. The only thing that hasn’t caught up yet is how they look doing it – on their website, on LinkedIn, in the press pitch they keep almost sending.
That’s not a vanity problem. It’s a visibility problem. And it’s one worth fixing properly.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me with a book in hand (I get through about 100 a year), walking my labradoodle, or daydreaming about my next trip to Italy.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Every shoot starts with a planning call - at least a couple of weeks before. We talk through what you need the photos to do, sort outfits, locations, props, logistics, and anything else that might be lurking in the back of your mind at 2am. By the time you arrive, there's nothing left to chance and nothing left to be nervous about.
The shoot itself is the easy bit. I've been doing this for nearly 20 years and I've yet to meet a woman who wasn't more photogenic than she thought she was.
