Why am I not getting clients from social media?

It’s a question I hear a lot, usually from women who are already doing what they’re supposed to be doing.
You know…they’re posting regularly, showing up on stories, they’ve put thought into their captions. From the outside, it looks like they’re doing everything right. And yet they’re still sat there wondering why am I not getting clients from social media, because the effort they’re putting in isn’t matching the results they expected.
And this is the point where most people assume they need to do more. But in a lot of cases, that’s not what’s missing.
You don’t have a content problem – you have an asset problem.
I know that’s not exactly exciting to hear. It’s much easier to believe there’s a new tactic or format that will suddenly make everything click (I’m guilty of downloading at least one freebie every month that will ‘save’ me). But when someone lands on your page, they’re not analysing your posting schedule. They’re making a quick decision about whether you feel like the right person for them.
And that decision is heavily influenced by what they see.
If you’ve read my last post about being quietly overlooked, this is where it shows up in real time. You can be visible every day, but still not be chosen if what people are seeing doesn’t fully represent who you are and the level you’re operating at.
That’s when the question becomes why am I not getting clients from social media, even though you’re clearly putting the effort in.
I’ve worked with so many women who thought they needed to improve their marketing, when actually they were working with a set of photos that didn’t back them up. The images were either outdated, inconsistent, or just didn’t reflect the version of themselves they’ve grown into.
So there’s a disconnect.
They’re writing confidently and talking about their work in a way that shows experience and clarity. But visually, it doesn’t quite match. Its just not strong enough to make someone stop and think, “yes, this is who I want.”
That gap is enough to lose people. Not dramatically, but quietly, over time. Someone scrolls past or clicks away. Someone chooses someone else who feels clearer and more aligned, even if their actual work isn’t any better.
That’s the part most people don’t see.
When you’re asking why am I not getting clients from social media, you’re usually looking at what you’re doing. But the answer is often in how you’re being seen.
Because social media isn’t just about showing up. It’s about giving people something to respond to.
And better representation will fix that.
It doesn’t mean looking perfect. It means looking like yourself at the level you’re actually operating at. The version of you your clients already experience when they work with you, not a slightly outdated or diluted version of it.
When that’s in place, everything else becomes easier. Your content feels more natural to create. You’re less hesitant to share it. And when people land on your page, they don’t have to work to understand you. They get it straight away.
That’s when social media starts to work properly.
Not because you’ve cracked the algorithm, but because what you’re showing finally matches who you are. And that’s usually the point where you stop asking why it isn’t working, and start noticing that it is.
If this is sounding familiar, it might not be more content you need. It might be that what you already have just isn’t representing you properly anymore.
That’s exactly what we fix in my signature brand shoots.
