But that doesn’t mean that you can sit around and wait for people to ‘discover’ you, “build it and they will come” style (well, you can, but you’ll be waiting a long time).
You have to get visible
(and don’t forget – the opposite of visible is invisible).
This is where my Visibility Boosting Photoshoots come in. I know that sometimes you just want to hide behind your laptop, and that’s it’s not the easiest thing in the world for most of us to get ourselves ‘out there’ and be seen as the businesswoman we want to be – the businesswoman we know we can be.
HOW DOES VISIBILITY SCHOOL WORK?
Every month you get a visibility boosting photoshoot at a new location (all locations will be in West Yorkshire) with a specific theme to help you raise your profile across social media.
The shoots take place in the middle of each month (dates below and bookable in advance), and after the session, you’ll get your choice of 5 images* fully touched up, and in a high-resolution format.
You’ll share your hour’s shoot with four other business owners, which means you’ll get moral support from the other people – and a great networking opportunity!
* Option to purchase more images after each shoot.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Each shoot lasts one hour and 4/5 business owners share the visibility boosting shoot. For instance the last shoot at Leeds Town Hall, I met the first four ladies on the steps of the Town Hall and we did a loop around the area taking photos at different spots along the way.
For the shoot at the co-working space, we moved from room to room, taking photos of each person individually and then on to the next room
It allows you to get a real variety of photos and have time to interact with the other members.
You will be able to book all 12 of your shoots as soon as you join. I use an online booking system to ensure you can book all of them straightaway (so you have some control over your own schedule) or up to 48 hours before the shoot.
On each day the sessions run
10am till 11am
11.15am till 12.15pm
12.30pm till 1.30pm
1.45pm till 1.45pm
All the shoots take place in and around Leeds and Wakefield. For instance these are some of our previous locations:
January – The Tetley in Leeds.
February – Office set up in Ossett.
March – Luxury house between Leeds & York
June – Temple Newsam in Leeds.
July – Leeds Town Hall
August – Field of long grass in Ossett.
September – Newmillerdam
October – Temple Newsam (formal gardens)
December – Co-working space
March – Oakwell Hall
April – Leeds Dock
May – Thornes Park, Wakefield
June – Hazelwood Castle, Leeds
July – Bar in Leeds
August – Co-working space (Wizu)
The locations are announced on the Facebook page 1 month before the shoot (if not sooner), with full details of location, parking and anything else you need to know.
You don’t have to bring anything other than yourself, but if you want to bring props along that’s fine too.
Some of the shoot days will be themed, for instance we used an office set up for one shoot, and everyone brought along their own laptops, notebooks etc. For another shoot we used a luxury house that saw people bringing along food to have photos taken in the kitchen.
Now that’s a difficult one… for some shoots you’ll probably be led by the theme of the shoot. Before each shoot I share inspiration in the PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP but when it comes down to it…its entirely up to you.
You can bring a change of outfit, but be aware we are sometimes in locations without changing facilities. I’d suggest just two changes as we have 4/5 people to photograph and can’t wait around.
For quite a few of the shoots you will probably need to be able to drive. Whist there are a number of shoots in Leeds City Centre, there will also be shoots at country parks, fields and other places.
The Visibility school shoots only take place on two days a month, so I cannot change to a different day. However if you need to change your shoot time, let me know as soon as possible.
During the summer months we do lots of shoots outside to take advantage of the weather. Unless the weather is really terrible the shoot will go ahead (so sometimes advisable to bring a brolly) but if there is heavy snow, strong winds or torrential rain we may have to change the day. But will give you notice of the new date, and if you cannot attend you’ll be able to take 5 images from a previous or future shoot.
Due to the nature of the shoots, as mentioned previously it isn’t possible to do the shoots on a different day. You would be given the option of taking 5 images from a previous or future shoot.
You can expect to get a choice of 5 photos from a gallery of at least 25 images. However often we’ll get many more than that.
Yes you can buy images on an individual basis at £10 per photo and the whole gallery is just £35 (retouching is charged extra per photo if required on the whole gallery). Visibility boosting photoshoots are perfect because you can come back at any time and get more photos.
There is no set time, but usually within a week of the shoot (and more often within a couple of days) you will receive access to your gallery.
You get your own gallery which is added to as the year goes on. If you’re looking for more images, they are available throughout the year.

You can cancel your membership at any time, however this is a 12 month contract and you will still be required to make 12 monthly payments.
However I’d hope that before this point you’d get in touch so we an see if we can find a solution.

2024 Dates & Locations
By signing up to the program you’re agreeing to pay 12 monthly amounts, irrespective of whether you attend all 12 shoots.
Payments will begin as soon as you sign up and for a minimum of 12 payments (the payments will be on a rolling monthly basis after this time and can be cancelled at any point after the initial 12 payments).
It’s entirely up to you whether you attend one or all 12 of the shoots, however, it is a 12-month subscription program, so while I’m unable to offer refunds if you can’t make the shoot date, you will be able to choose an additional 5 images from the last shoot you attended (OR a future shoot) instead.
Weather – some of the shoots will take place outside. Obviously we have no control over the weather so the shoot will be rearranged if it is deemed impossible to shoot. We’ll do our best to choose a date that everyone is happy with, but that might not necessarily be possible. If the weather is wet but Maryanne still feels it shootable, please bring along a brolly and wet weather gear as necessary.
Any shoots that are postponed due to Coronavirus (or any other similar national emergency, where we are not allowed to do the shoot) will be added on to the end of the 12 months of shoots.
Please arrive a little early for your shoot. We’ve got 4/5 people an hour (and four hours of shoots each day) to get through and we want everyone to get as much out of it as possible.
All drinks/food at any venues (and used in the photos) are to be bought and paid for at the shoot by the individuals.
No specific image or pose can be guaranteed ( but talk to Maryanne if you have something special in mind).
We cannot guarantee a specific venue will be used at each shoot (even where it has been announced) but all efforts will be made if the venue becomes unavailable, to find somewhere similar.
You’ll be able to book your one-hour time slot online up to 48 hours before the shoot (but please bear in mind your preferred shoot time might have gone if you leave it too late).
