She Didn’t Use a Brand Photographer… And It Showed

“I just want one photo I actually like”
When your last shoot didn’t quite work out, and you’re ready for a different experience. I hear it more often than you’d think:
“I’ve had brand photos taken before… but I just didn’t like them.”
Sometimes the photos are technically fine. But they don’t feel like you. Perhaps you didn’t use a brand Photographer. Maybe the photographer rushed you through outfit changes. Or they were used to shooting properties, not people. Maybe you felt awkward the whole time, and it shows.
One client told me she’d had headshots taken as part of a work package – but the moment she saw them, she knew she couldn’t use them. She felt uncomfortable during the shoot, the images didn’t reflect how she actually shows up in her business, and worst of all, she still didn’t have a single photo she felt proud to share.
That’s the heart of brand photography. Not just looking polished, but feeling like yourself. Recognisable. Confident. Like the best version of you on your best day.
When we spoke, she knew she didn’t want anything over-the-top or super glam. She just wanted something that looked like her – professional but approachable, elevated but natural. And above all, images that would actually feel good to put on her website, her socials, her business card.
So we made a plan.
We’re shooting in my studio, where I’ve created a space that’s designed to feel relaxed, not intimidating. With neutral backdrops and lifestyle-inspired setups, it gives us all the flexibility we need to create a gallery of images that work for her brand but without feeling forced or over-produced.
We’ll plan the outfits, the props, the feel of the shoot together beforehand. So by the time she walks in, she’ll know exactly what we’re creating and how it’s going to be used.
Because the truth is, if your last shoot left you disappointed and you didn’t use a brand photographer, it doesn’t mean you’re bad on camera.
It probably just means no one took the time to make you feel comfortable.
If you’re ready for a shoot that actually feels like you—and gives you images you can’t wait to share—I’d love to chat.
