So last week I had an unexpected week off…or rather… Mr Scott decided he was going to take a week off, last minute and I then scrabbled around trying to get work finished.

Is it wrong that I wasn’t even that fussed about having a week off?

I proper love my job, and it never actually feels like a job so I feel a bit lost if I’m not camera in hand, stomping round Leeds or across fields… but it turns out I needed it.

So we had a lovely week. We did very little, visited some friends, did a little bit of gardening…not quite the week in the sunshine we’d hoped for…

So even though I shouldn’t have been working, I just couldn’t help myself… so to kick this new little feature off… I’m going to be sharing 5 things I did to increase my visibility …and whether it made a difference.

5 Things I did last week to improve my VISIBILITY.

As I mentioned, having a week off, when its last minute was a bit of a nightmare. I’d already got a day of shoots planned for VISIBILITY SCHOOL, and some other stuff I just couldn’t change…

The easiest thing I did was share a bit of my story over on instagram.

1 .I told the story of how me and Mr Scott met, as it was our wedding anniversary.

Lots of interactions, and lots of comments. In fact it was by far the most popular post I did last week.

It always amazes me that people are interested in stuff like that…until I realise Im just the same and love a bit of #behindthescenes

2. I actually did a “LIVE” on another business owners facebook page .

I do not like going live. I don’t like how I sounds, how I get progressively more beetroot colour or that I stutter my way through the first few minutes. But I did it. and it was far from a disaster.

Mainly because Dawn McGruer is an excellent interviewer… I’m hoping I can get a copy of it on playback…I might even share it.

3. I tried out Instagram “REELS” and did one every day last week.

Most of them where just fun little videos I already had but it was fun and my engagement on Instagram went up 279% .

I don’t think I’d do one every day as they were a bit time consuming, but I love the creativity of using my own video, canva for some nice templates and then the Videoshop.app was so easy to do.

4. The next one isn’t going to make a direct impact just yet…but I actually booked my own photoshoot.

Next week I am taking some time to update my own photos and maybe improve the sections of my website where I should be a little bit more visible.

My current worries… I am definitely going to have to work on my posing and I need some new clothes as lockdown has not been kind…

Thankfully I have a lovely friend who will take the photos (I set up the camera and get the right light etc…she takes the photo)

5. The final thing I did was actually write out the basics of some future newsletters.

When I actually remember to write my newsletter I quite enjoy it. Its usually just a list of blog posts and a few comments about whats going on…but the time has come to be a bit more intentional. But doing regularly seems to be beyond me.

So I decided to write a few at a time so that I just don’t have to think about it. Plus I need to write it so it sounds less corporate (and dare I say…salesy eek).

Anyway, hopefully you can see that we’re all in the same boat. Being more VISIBLE is an ongoing thing…there is always new stuff you can try!

The main thing to remember is to be consistent..

Good luck.
